quick breeding question

So I just recently bought a baby corn het for moonstone, gender is unproven right now. I only bought it to be a pet but as I have just had another corn, a 6 year old male aztec that is a proven breeder given to me I am thinking of getting the baby probed and if it happens to be a female I wanted to look into breeding the two eventually and was wondering if the two morphs would be a good combination? As I have zero understanding of genetics and the dominant genes Im curious if this gene combination could all appear on the offspring possibly?

I haven't followed corns in a long time but Google corn snake genetic calculator. Grrrr I remember when there was only 20 or so morphs. Now there are like a bazillion. You can't make this post without pictures. Corns will always have a special spot in my heart

Aztec is a type of aberrant patterning that is not a simple recessive trait, often is not heritable, and in the few cases where it is, is polygenic in nature.

So what you're doing is basically pairing a normal to a normal, and unless they share any hets you don't know about, you'll get 100% normal babies. And you might get upwards of 30 of them. And they can be hard to sell, and you have to be able to individually house them for a couple months at least.

Think long and hard before you go the breeding route, and start saving money in an account *now* in case your snake, if female, gets eggbound. I had a snake go eggbound without having even been bred, and then during that surgery she threw a blood clot and had to have her tail amputated the next day. That was a pretty penny.

That said, breeding can be worthwhile and fun, but really look into things. If your newest snake is a female, your best bet is to purchase a male moonstone. That will give you a variety of babies; normals, aneries, lavenders, and moonstones.
