Marble generally takes f/t rats, but recently has become rather reluctant. Like, last successful feed was November. Took her to the vet, and he told me she had stuck eyecaps and that was the only problem. He gave me ointment to put on her eyes and I did that until they came off. She still isn't eating, so I'm considering trying live pinkies, since I hear live is good for reluctant feeders and pinkies are good for snakes that aren't very good at defending themselves. She's not a snake I want with a rat that can attack. At the very least, not until she has some experience killing them herself. Which is why I'd like to start with pinkies, and work my way up.
That said, what are some things I should be aware of? I am no stranger to keeping/breeding rodents, but I have only ever fed f/t.
At what age/size are rats a danger to my snake? In terms of wean/hopper/adult
If necessary, how would I get her from eating live back to f/t?
How do I find a good breeder for feeder rats in my area?(I live in Pittsburgh)
What are some of your favorite ways to prekill rats?
Would either the snake or the rat become stressed and antsy if the tanks are both in the same room?
And generally anything else you guys think would be helpful to know.
