    Underweight BP?
Hello, I have had my ball python for about three months (I'm new to snakes) and I was wondering if she is underweight and what I could do to help her. The pet store said she is "one year old" although I'm not to sure about that. According to my scale she is 100 Grams and is about 1 1/2 feet long. I have been feeding her Fuzzies though today I went and picked up small and medium mice to see if she would handle that.

This is when I first got her:

She's a little small, but not too bad. Probably because of what she's been eating so far.

Mouse fuzzies are smaller than most BPs eat straight out of the egg. At her size, she'd be able to take a rat fuzzy (or small mouse) every 3-4 days without any problems at all. I'm sure she'll pack on the grams once she's eating appropriately sized meals. Best of luck with her!

I would say that snake is nowhere near a year old. How much did she weigh when you got her? Pet stores usually have very little information about the snakes they have and they usually dont know what ehy are talking about. (My friend was sold a red tailed boa and they told her it would only grow to 3 feet)

If by fuzzies, do you mean mice? at 100g she should be on at least rat fuzzies. Youre going to want to get her on rats asap because when she is older, youll probably have trouble convincing her to eat them. Also, rats will make her gain more weight.

Thank you, I feed her tomorrow so I'm going to try the small mouse.

I dont think she's one either but she seems to be growing and I'm not really sure about the weight when I first got her as I just got a scale today when I noticed other peoples BPs were a ton bigger at that age. Also I'll definitely switch her over when i can.

    Thanks
