    Looking for advice on milks
Hello, my name is Jessie. I currently have a created gecko, I'm really looking into getting a pueblan milk as my first snake.

I have spent around a year researching species until I decided on a milk. The only thing I can't seem to find is a proper way to house a hatchling milk. I'll only have one snake so a rack system isn't viable for me, which is all I seem to find advice for.

I'm wanting to start in a small sterlite tub or Kritter keeper before upgrading to a 10 gallon aquarium. I understand the use of thermostats, thermometers, and UTH's in glass tanks. However, I cannot seem to find any guide on how to efficiently heat a plastic tub. I know I don't want to use a UTH as it runs the risk of melting plastic and releasing fumes.

Does anyone have any advice on how to effectively do this? Also, any recommendations on specific products would be much appreciated!

    Thank you for any help.

    Hi Jess,

Welcome to the forum. Which Milk Snake are you considering? You can still use UTHs with tubs. I prefer to use Ultratherm UTHs because they won't get hot enough to melt the plastic even in the case of a thermostat malfunction.

if you're looking at baby pueblans, I'd go with the kritter keeper over a standalone tub for security reasons. These guys are tiny escape artists. I’ve used KKs for them with the addition of a screen covering to keep them from getting to the escape hatch which isn’t very secure. I use ambient room heating, so I can't advise on heating one of these.
