So, we really wanted a rat to keep my current one company since she's been depressed (her sister died a few months ago)...we met a man who claimed to be a breeder and it turns out he breeds them for his snakes. No big deal. He shows us his 5 week old babies and we pick one. He seems uncertain, but says it's a girl. Can you tell from these pictures? If not, I'll get more. These poor rats were kept in disgusting conditions, and my fiancee couldn't help herself from taking one just to save it!

She has scabs on her and they didn't start until after Laney died. I think she is obsessively grooming from stress so a friend will be a good thing
