It's been a great couple of weeks!
It's been a while since I've posted, but some really cool things have happened lately w/my BP, Severus.

(I am such an animal geek. Ain't it grand?)

    ;)

Anyways, I finally got him to eat a live mouse twice in one week. I knew he hadn't eaten for a little while (would NOT eat frozen, which is what I was told he'd do), & figured that two feeder mice would be ok. Which they were, 'cuz he snapped them right up. I've gotta tell you, I'm not sure if it's just me, but I found it very exciting to watch him eat. (Or nerve-wracking, depending on how you look @ it.)

Then last week, I noticed his eyes getting opaque; obviously an indication of impending skin shredding. I got him some astroturf this past Sunday (as I normally use newspaper), & honestly wasn't sure how long it'd be before he shed. Needless to say, I was quite excited to find a full (& 99% complete) shed when I came home from work yesterday. (And yes, I double-checked his eyes; thankfully, they are nice & clear.)

It must be damn hard work to shed skin. Go Severus!!!

    :)

Sweet - good to hear. It is fascinating watching them eat though, isn't it?

    Nice name too :P

Thanks, Smulkin. Surprisingly enough, it was met w/resistance by some members of the family. Some thought the same was something negative (i.e., Sever-us), but I quickly explained that it's a Harry Potter reference.

    I'm a book geek too. Isn't that a shocker?

    :)

I recently discovered that Severus was also the name for a Roman emperor. Go figure.

    ;)
