    BP sick?! Help?
I have a two year old Mojave Bumblebee that I got from a local breeder. He has been amazingly healthy the last year I have had him. But two days ago he started doing something wierd with his throat. He puffs it out while breathing and lets out a hissing sound when he breathes out again. I am worried because I have had issues in my (old) new house keeping the temperatures and humidity up to par. I took a video hoping some of you more experienced owners can tell me if its an RI (please please no) or just him being all grumpy or something. There are no clicks or whistles as far as I can tell, just a soft hiss of air as the bulge goes away. Please let me know what you think so that I can find a reptile vet if I need one. I love my baby and don't like the thought of him being sick.

don't know what's up with him. if there aren't tiny bubbles, wheezing, etc. prob not an RI.

has he tried to strike/bite? he could be huffy b/c he's stressed. did u make any big changes to his enclosure or give him a good scare or something?

I changed his cool side hide because he was getting too big, and I started using an automatic mister about 5 days ago. But other than that no changes. He doesn't strike, but then again he never has. He really quite sweet.

what are your temps? does he thermoregulate - switch between hides/sides of the tank when he gets too hot or cool? what's your humidity after the auto-mister mists? it mists how often?

there was another former who posted a vid of his BP heaving deeply, but that was it's whole body. not just the face. He took it to the vet after a day or two, and there was nothing wrong physically and the BP returned to normal. it was just a weird occurrence.

i hope others will peep in for u. just monitor him for now and make sure temps/humidity is on point to keep him comfy.

    edit: here's the heaving thread - http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...t-Feed-Heaving

what are your temps? H:86.5 C:76.2 I can't get the temp to go above 90 to save my life. He has a lamp and a heating pad, and I even started covering the top of the terrarium to try and hold in the heat. Without the cover for the top the temp wasnt going above 77 on the hot side.
does he thermoregulate - switch between hides/sides of the tank when he gets too hot or cool? Yes, he does move from one side to the other, though even with the cooler temps he spends a lot of time on the cool side.
what's your humidity after the auto-mister mists? Humidity stays at around 50-60 most of the day, spikes at 80 just after the mister, of course, the guage is right in the spray pattern....
it mists how often? It sprays for 15 seconds every hour

Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it.

How are you measuring those temperatures and what are you using to regulate the heat sources? The ambient should not be 90*F, only the surface of the glass over the UTH.

Hope you sort it out if - it is indeed anything. Your affection for the snake is abundantly clear by the way you're holding and gently stroking it . It is absolutely stunning looking snake incidentally and looks to be in great shape .

another idea: how was his last feeding? is he trying to regurgitate? is there something stuck in his throat? here's the story of a BP that tried to throw up and got food stuff stuck in it's throat: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...e-serious-help

anyway keep us posted. all my best.
