    Question about feeding frozen
I have been feeding my snakes F/T for a while now and all eat take it just fine (except for 1) One of my snakes that always took F/T since I switched them over. The last 4 times i tried feeding her F/T and she flat out refused to eat. Today she ate F/T again. My question isdo some snakes stop taking F/T evn after eating it for a while?

I don't know if f/t prey is the issue. Some snakes will take unexplained food breaks for weeks if not months. As long as your husbandry is dialed in, and the snake's not losing any significant weight, it's usually nothing to worry about.

She didn't skip any meals. I fed her live instead but I offered F/T first.

    Re: Question about feeding frozen
I misunderstood your original post G. If your snake has eaten frozen thawed consistently then there's really no need to offer them live even if they skip a few meals. I can imagine many snakes would "prefer" live food but if they'll eat f/t readily I would stick with that. If you condition them to think that if they refuse f/t then you'll give them a live feeder, they may well refuse f/t. When my snakes miss a meal I don't offer them food again until their next feeding day and only f/t. I have fed live when my snakes would take long food breaks during winter or breeding season, but that's after months of refusals. I try to wait them out but sometimes a live feeder will kickstart their appetites.

BP's and other snakes are self-regulators on food intake at some point in their life.

Whether it's at 1 yr, 2 yr, etc. They know when to load up for egg production and shut down in the winter. And sometimes load up before the winter shut down.

Sometimes they just don't need the food and refuse to eat. We humans have a hard time accepting that since we like an eating schedule for ourselves and our pets.

I agree with Ziggy and don't reoffer food until the next scheduled time. And no need to go to live if F/T has been the diet, unless there are issues such as unhealthy weight loss or breaking a never ending hunger strike.

Stick to ft. Offering live could turn it into a live only feeder.

Thanks for the repiles. Yesterday she took F/T again so I will see if she will take it again next week. If not i will wait until the following week to try again. I feel I'm lucky that out of my 6 snakes 5 eat anything I give them.
