Bunny in the same room as snakes?
Does anyone also have a pet bunny?

I might be getting a mini rex bunny as a free roam house pet, assuming the scent all over the house doesn't mess with my snakes. Since my snakes are on rats right now, I was wondering whether a bunny would smell similar to or would seem like food to the snakes, even remotely. Her cage and play area would be in the same room as the snakes. Since she's free-roam, her scent would be all over the carpet, would the snakes go into hunt mode when they go on the carpet too? Or generally, what kind of problems or reactions would it cause in the snakes?

I don't see why not. My son has pet rats and likes to roam all over the house with them (my snake rack is in our unused dining room). I have also heard of people keeping their rat racks in the same room with their snakes and have had no other issues. Maybe others have had problems but i can think of none personally. :gj:

My boas react to my ferrets, my ball pythons don't seem to notice them. But only when the boas actually see them (if I walk past that cage with them). I doubt there will be an issue, but as always, your mileage will vary.

Granted, cats are not rodents or even related to rodents, but when I was growing up we had too cats in addition to my two snakes (BP and corn). I would sometimes sit around watching TV or whatever with two shakes around my neck and a cat on my lap,and none of the critters seemed to notice or care.

Thanks guys! I'm relieved. Okay, I'll continue on my bunny searching path.

LOL Oh yeah, bunnies practically poop all day. It's so wild. My past bunny (a dwarf mix) was easily litterbox trained, so the poops weren't a big issue though! Sometimes I'd still find some stray marbles.

I'd say this classifies as close to some of the snakes. Contrary to popular belief, rabbits are not rodents and I've never noticed any difference having them close to each other. Granted I also don't have a giant Burm or retic around. And yes, so much poop! I always say they must turn each food pellet into 2-3 poo balls. It's been 3 days since I cleaned his cage and it looks so bad on the blue bedding my son wanted. Never again!

Yeah IMO they are worse than rats with the poop. We had a bunny given to us and he was a poop machine!! He was also really smart lol. In a previous home we rented we had white carpet. We woke up one morning and found these brown beads all over the living room and the rabbit in his cage but the cage was a little off center from the bottom tray. We thought someone bumped it the night before and he was able to get out. The next day same thing lol. I fixed the cage and sat in the living room. I then started hearing a knocking sound and i look over at him. He is literally lifting the cage by his teeth and scooting off of the plastic base. Lol it was so funny! :8:

LOOL I never thought of it that way, but it's so true. Weird rabbits. As long as they can keep it in their litter tray in a short time of litterbox training and not all over the floor, I'm good with throwing out the poo! I think daily poo-throwing is necessary with rabbits. They really are poo and stink machines. Especially males.

Lol never knew. Just a regular old rabbit i guess :confusd:. Came to us as Peter Rabbit but my son called him Magic because he was a white rabbit like magicians use. I guess he sort of was a bit like Houdini :D
