Help! Corn snake red mites
I recently got a blizzard corn snake. It's eating hopper nice readily, is active and very friendly. But today I found 2 red dots on the snake that I assume are mites. Does anyone know how to get rid of them? Any help would be appreciated. Pictures included.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...194da8adeb.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...123158cce2.jpg

Those don't look like mites to me but it could just be your phone. If you have a magnifying glass or loupe try taking a better look through it.
But, just in case they are... http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...it-with-AaronP
The only part I disagree with is applying the permethrin solution to the snake, I use Reptile Spray directly on the animal instead.
Re: Help! Corn snake red mites
Hi there!
I've dealt with mites before. I's no big deal. But they are a pain in the butt to get rid of. But defiantly not anything to freak out about:)
If you have any other reptiles, be sure to keep your snake in a separate room.
Bathe your snake everyday. Wash your tank with a gently soap everyday. Zoo Med's mite spray and Natural Chemistry mite spray both work great. I've used both.
Do this everyday for 30 days. If there's still mites, repeat for another 30 days.
Mite eggs hatch after 7-10 days. You can't see the eggs because they are hidden in the scales. Mites can live for 30-40 days on a host. Without a host, they only live for 10-12 hours.
If you have other reptiles, be sure to change your clothes before taking care of them after you wash the tank and snake so that the mites don't spread.
Good Luck

The mites will rapidly multiply if nothing is done right?

Maybe start another thread - with a title asking for confirmation that they are indeed mites .
We have insects just like those red things on country walls and paths over here in the UK .
They may not even mites .. ..

I'm pretty sure this is a super-low-expression paradox, letting the albino colours trough some places, and that you don't need to take the step treating for mites.
I don't have a blizzard, but i've had several snow corn snakes with these dots on them. I'm sure it's much more common than we think, it's just that in pure white snakes it's much more noticeable.
Terrible pictures, don't know what happend, but these are taken 5 minutes ago. Same little red dots :)
