Clyde was able to sneak in
The unseasonably warm weather we had this week allowed my dream snake to shipped in this morning. The reason I got into snake keeping was stumbling across a picture of a pied ball python five or so years ago. Up till now they were more than I was willing to pay, plus I wanted to gain some experience with less moody species before moving into ball pythons. Here is a less than ideal cell phone picture as I am too excited to wait for the good camera. He is quite iridescent, is that normal for a pied?http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/...psmirbotli.jpg

he's beautiful. i think his whites and pattern is perfectly balanced. congrats!

i think when most snakes are shiny and new (for example, post shed) are really iridescent.

Yup, post shed balls are brilliant. My Strudel looks like an oil slick post shed, she's all dark and shimmering rainbows! Enjoy it and maybe grab some pics while it lasts, the new skin shine will wear off after a few days and you'll have to wait until the next shed to see it again!

Thanks ax01, I thought I had built it up too much. Fortunately I was still blown away.

Interesting none of my other snakes do this, granted only one is a ball python but she is a kingpin.

Wow! Amazing pickup Ant. Yeah , I agree with Ax on the post shed being the reason for the increased iridescence. His nutritional status and state of hydration would be other reasons. That male is what's up. Congrats. Enjoy him. :gj:
