Dying for a boa!!!

I came here because I know you guys will understand!!

I posted before about a boa I wanted to 'rescue'. It didn't happen but ever since then I've just been obsessed with the idea of getting a boa. I want one so bad! I love my two balls and my brb but I really want a bigger snake and I think boas are beautiful.

Alas, I have to wait until I have more money and can afford one. I think I need to get my balls into pvc enclosures before I purchase a boa but it's hard. I belong to so many Facebook reptile selling groups and I see them constantly.

How do you guys deal with it when you're dying for a certain snake? :(

While my interests remain constant, my obsessions come and go.
My suggestion: switch focus. Spend free time on unrelated sites.

Current obsession is getting the garden in.

My personal theory is that for long term wants - the cosmos does provide. The things I really want WILL show up...unexpectedly, and sometimes in bizarre ways.

So, you will get your boa, when the time is right. Just be patient. :)

Make or buy a 3 to 5 level 41-qt rack. Once it gets out of QT a boa can live comfortably in it with your ball pythons for at least the first two years of its life while you save up for its adult enclosure.

I go pull out one of my other snakes and fool with it.

Boas are awesome. I myself was like you obsessed with getting one. I did get one and I love her a lot but I admit I'm a little intimidated by her now that she is full grown. She is a pretty big girl. I can't het her out of her enclosure by myself for cleaning. My husband will hold her while I clean. Just a little something to think about.

That's a good point. I don't want anything big. I have to be able to handle it myself as a 5'3" girl that's not overly strong. I don't have anyone to help me, no spouse or anything.

Look for the dwarf localities. You get all of the attitude and personality (and food response!) of a larger BCI but in a 5-6 foot package.

Boas are great. Both my 2 gals are lap snakes that are happy to ride on me. My big girls does like to explore and attempts to climb anything she can get near while riding on. My sunglow gal just likes to sit on me, if I put her down she will go curl up under a pillow or something but if I let her ride on me, she will look all over. Now my pied BP gal is a terror. People say BPs are secretive but my gal is a monster. If you take her out she wont sit still, she always wants to check EVERYTHING out and if you open the cage, she will more than likely pop out to check out whats going on. She rips down her plants, tries to tip the water bowl by digging under it and arching up, pushes her temp/humidity gauge across the tank and just is a terror. Come day, she is quiet though, I guess building energy for the nights damage to come lol.

You will definitely not regret a boa. I'm debating on either a high expression jungle male as my next one but also looking at either an Aru, Sorong, or Manikwari GTP as I have wanted a GTP forever. But I got to refrain as my I need to order 2x AP T13s first......but its so hard not to buy another snake lol.

Just get a male BCI, they generally are 4-6' and most boas are really laid back especially if you work them a lot. Like I said, both my gals come out about 3 times a week during winter and pretty much everyday in the summer to ride on me while I do stuff outside my house and they are puppies.

Hm. Not really looking for attitude, though, lol. I like docile, friendly snakes. I know that's up to each snake but that's what I'll be looking for when the time comes.

Aw, that's exactly what I'm looking for! Docile snakes like that. I'll keep them in mind when I start looking! Luckily we have some great breeders here in Canada and I know I'll find one that can help me out :)

I'm your height. Totally doable with a red tail. You don't need a spouse to help if you are patient and have a sense of humor. Today I got the pleasure of prying her out of the gap between my bathroom door and the frame it sits in. Little lady thinks I'll give up eventually lol. I just laugh.
