    Possibly silly question about hyacinths
I just brought home a new baby BP this week. It also happens that we have some potted hyacinths flowering in the same room. The smell is so strong that you smell it when you open the front door, which is downstairs. But it occurred to me that I've heard something about hyacinths being poisonous to dogs when they eat the bulbs, so I just thought I'd double check and see if there's anything in the fragrance that could harm a snake. I've kept snakes for years, and some houseplants, but we aren't really flower people much, and only very rarely have I ever had flowers in the house and I know I have never had any kind of flower in the house that totally floral-ed up the whole place.
We like the flowers and the smell, but I just want to make sure it isn't an irritant of some kind (beyond the obvious part where it's yet another strange new smell in a strange new place full of lots of strange new things).
