    Is rat rape a thing?
I have a girl who I know is pregnant. She hasn't come into noticeable heat since contraception. She is getting rounder and her nipples more pronounced. There's no doubt she's pregnant. However, I've just witnessed the male being intensely interested in her and mounting her to the fact that she will even come into slight lordosis position... is this a weird type of play? or is she just giving in? or are some male rats just... sex addicts?? I'm really confused.

Pretty sure that was supposed to be "conception".

Yes, rats will sometimes mate even when the female isn't in heat. If the female doesn't want to mate, trust me, she will beat up that male like crazy. My females have beaten up bully males on occasion.

I was so confused I just ignored this entirely. As my phone will make me say....

    Duck it.

anyways, females will absolutely put a male in its place if they aren't receptive to him. With all the fierceness of a wild honey badger.

Haha, how embarrassing for a first post. Yes, conception is what I meant :) Thanks for your input guys! She is naturally a very submissive rat so I think she just ends up letting him mate with her, despite not being in heat. I didn't know that was even something rats did, but hey! Learn something new everyday..
