    Is Something Wrong?
After 2 months of trial and error, I FINALLY got all the temps and humidity perfect for my baby girl. I hadn't seen her in about 3 1/2 days and I figured this was because she was digesting (she just ate on Saturday). I went to go pick her up (I handle her 2-3 times a week) and something felt off. Despite the temps and humidity being all good, she feels...dry? Her head looks and feels dry and the rest of her skin feels really rubbery. She almost looks like she's coming out of blue but she just shed a couple weeks ago so I don't think that's it. She's not aggravated like she's shedding either. She's extremely lethargic and kind of limp... http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/02...71666f29f5.jpg

Babies shed often, could be shedding again.

Hm...her last 2 sheds have been about a months apart and she's a year old so I don't think that's it.

Something fell off?? Skin? If yes, then she's shedding. You say you finally got your husbandry right, but what are your numbers and how/where are you measuring from?

Have you increased feeder size recently or has she otherwise grown longer/bigger? If so then she is just shedding. When mine is to the point of being in blue, she doesn't act much different than usual, other than staying put a little more. They shed depending on growth, not necessarily on any sort of schedule.

Maybe she's lethargic because of the energy expended from shedding or something, not sure but I wouldn't consider it unusual for a shedding snake to be a little slow.

Also, she just looks like she's shedding. Her blacks are very grayed out.

It could be dehydration? If you start noticing lots of sharp-crested wrinkles around the bends when she balls up, that's probably what it is. I don't know much about it myself, but @wheremyscalesslither on tumblr is a pretty good resource for this kind of thing. I linked to a search for their info on dehydration, so you can look at some pictures and see if you think that's it.

If it is, or if you want to treat for that just in case, there's a "sauna" sort of thing you can do to help. Here's a link to brief instructions on it written by @i-m-snek, and how it should look from the outside. That specific post is directed toward helping with stuck shed, but the principle is the same either way. In case the links don't work:

    Quote:

Take a plastic tote, the kind with the locking lid, and drill some small holes in the top. Put in warm water (90 degrees F tops) up to about a quarter inch, put the snake inside, and lock the lid.
I've also seen others put in a damp towel for an "island" so that the snake can be in the humidity without necessarily being in the water, if that makes sense. The sauna should be about 10 minutes at a time, no longer than 30. You can always do it twice a day if you're really worried.

Like I said, I don't know much about this myself, this is just what I've gathered from others. :)

Just because you tracked the previous 2 sheds that does not mean the snake will shed on a schedual... They shed when they need to, of humidity and everything is correct its probably just another shed... I had peach finish a shed and then about 2 weeks later she started another

If it is dehydration maybe a 30 minute soak in snake temp water could be worth trying ?? I know it's frowned upon by some people for removing a stubborn shed but it can and does work in dehydration cases .

No. Nothing fell off. I'm not sure where you got that. Dehydration was my first thought but her water is just fine. Her numbers are reading 90° on the hot side and 82° on the cool side with humidity between 50%-60%.
