what would be safe?

hi i am thinking of making my own little water fall, out of slate rocks ,,,,,i am just wondering what i can use to hold the rock together that would not be toxic to any reptile, any ideas? thanks

Aquarium silicone is used with almost everything when it comes to making things in animal enclosures. It will be fine under the stress of the water, as it's used in aquariums. I think you need to let the object air out for around 24 hours after using the silicone, I'm not positive on the time frame though. (but longer is always better)

Yes, aquarium silicone is the standard. There is some controversy, but many experienced keepers and aquarium builders state any silicone will work as long as silicone is the only ingredient. You can get by cheeper this way. Check for mildicides(spell?)/ fungicides.

I used regular bathroom silicone with no issues. Just make sure you allow the space time to air out.

My gf made a nice waterfall out of styrofoam for her fire belly toads. She made the waterfall with bare styrofoam, then coated it with tile grout, then painted it (for realism) and then she sealed it with some two part waterproof epoxy that was almost like painting with water. It's actually really nice except that it kind of floats a little.

Drill some holes in the back or bottom and put fishing weights or maybe derby weights in the holes.

There is a two part epoxy that is used to glue rocks together in the aqurium hobby. It's used to put together dry rock. Go to a local fish store,they can provide it for you. It's aqurium safe so it should be fine for reptiles. It cost around ten dollars for the tube.
