Removinh hide

Hey everyone, just wondering, I have been removing my BP's hide on feeding day, is this bad to do ?
Reason I do this is it gets her moving around and rubbing things in her enclosure, then when I drop a mouse in there....... that's the end of that.
Just wanted to know if this is ok or a no no.

Thats fine to do if it works for your snake. I would think that some BPs might become stressed once the hide is removed, but if it works then go with it.

For me, I prefer to let the scent of the rat draw them out of the hide.

If I don't have my heat gun at the time, I will blow on rat toward the hide. Brings em out every time. :)

Sounds like your feeding live? If so then you method is fine ... Do you put the feeder close to the snakes enclosure for 30 min or so to scent the area and get your ball looking for food first?

No I dont tempt her, I just remove her hide off of her for about 20 minutes or so, once her hide is off she's all over her enclosure looking then I just drop in an adult mouse and its supper time.
When she's done eating I put her hide back in and she finds her way back to her hide.

As for feeding live... yes I am, I tried switching to F/T but with no success, she prefers to kill it herself.
would be easier F/T as live around here is getting hard to come by.

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. However, BPs tend to be ambush hunters when they have the chance to be. I like to let then "hunt" from their hides, so I don't take them out unless I have a good reason.
