    Male wont eat.
Recently our male OD locked up with two females, and has been refusing food ever since. Is this normal for a male to go off feed after mating? This male has never had an issue eating before this.

    Thanks.

It is not unusual for mature males to go off feed around this time. I just had 4 adult males stop eating about two weeks ago and none of them were even being paired. He probably is just going of feed and the timing is coincidental. I would change your routine and try offering food once every two weeks until he starts back up and monitor his weight.

Okay thanks. I was also planning on to continue pairing him up. Is this safe or should we wait until he starts eating again?

You can continue pairing him. Just monitor his weight and watch so he doesn't go too far the other way. If he goes too long you may want to stop pairing him to conserve his mass. If they have paired several times then there is a good chance that things will progress just fine without additional couplings. Good luck.

Before breeding he was around 970, not sure the exact number and I just weighed him and he is an even 1000.

My boys almost always go off rats during breeding season, but I find they will take a mouse or two (I think they want to keep lean and mean for the ladies!).

He will eat when ready, he's just got other things on his mind. ;)

Feeding during breeding can be so frustrating.
