Six foot enclosure, narrow flight of stairs
Well, I need ideas. I have a wooden six foot by two and a half by two and a half enclosure. Solid wood. And a narrow staircase. Tank needs to get up these stairs. I'm starting to think I'll need an engineering degree to make that happen. And about ten people. Big burly people.

Any my magic tricks to get this monster up here by myself? I'm thinking I'll be forced to disassemble it. And in that case, can someone explain to me how to make the drill, "chuck" and screwdriver stick thingy get the screws out? This is so above my pay grade lol.

Looking at this thing I'm not even sure it'll fit in the space I originally planned on it going.

    ergh!!!!!

Well, I'd start with a tape measure - otherwise, the project may be wishful thinking.
...something I recently indulged in while trying to find a place for my big enclosure.

6'longx2 1/2' deep, by how wide/thick? If the upstairs had double-hung windows, that wold be an easy way in, if you can get it up to the window. I live in a very old house with a very narrow, u-shaped stairway. I put my laundry room on the second floor... Fortunately for me, I have two very large windows above my front porch, so I was able to lift them onto the front porch roof, then go through a window.

Dissasembly... loosen the drill chuck (or if a battery operated drill, hold the chuck portion, and put the drill in reverse and pull the trigger). That will open the chuck. Put in the screw bit, switch it to forward, and pull the trigger to tighten the chuck. Then Put the screwdriver back on reverse and unscrew the screws.

So, will this fit up the stairwell, and it's just the size/weight you are concerned with, or will it just not fit size-wise?

Oh, the windows are a no go. Ive got those ancient windows that open with a crank, that open like a book standing up.

In a perfect world of anti gravity it would fit, by putting it on its little end, pivioting it and getting it up the stairs that way. I'm thinking its gonna have to come apart. And yeah, I think I have to move the furniture to get it in the space I wanted it to go lol.

Its longer then the measuring tape in my sewing kit. Its 31 by 31 and a halfish, by about 76 inches.

Ive learned that I have a distorted mental perception of what 76 inches is.

Wish I could help but this is not my forte. You may want to pm OWAL reptiles for some extra help. LTG is also a great asset too.

Where are you located? You might be able to enlist some help from nearby snake lovers if you live in one of our more populated areas. (ie: If you're in Northern Virginia, I could probably help)

Speaking as someone who has moved entire household cross-country multiple times and done all the setting up by myself...I can tell you, where there's a will, there's a way!

First off...get to the hardware store and buy yourself a real tape measure. (Really, the hardware department of Wal Mart or some such would be fine!) You'll never be sorry you own it!

Second off...measure and re-measure the place that you want to put it. Make SURE that's where you want it and that it will fit BEFORE you go to the herculean effort of getting it up those stairs.

Third off...TRY to NOT take it apart, especially if you're not even sure how to make the drill work. IF that's your only solution...then, as I said, where there's a will, there's a way...and you can make it work. But it's very risky. Once taken apart and reassembled, it may not be as sturdy as it was before, and if you're not feeling confident in your handy-skills, you may not get it back together at all.

Lastly...consider your own strength and abilities. Are you fit enough to do some heavy lifting and shoving? If so, you can muscle that sucker up the stairs by yourself if you have to, but it will take patience...much care...and lots of tiny steps. I'm a 49 year old overweight woman of no particular physical fitness, but I could get it up the stairs if I needed to. If you think you could do it with the right know-how...let me know and I'll write out all the steps that I would take to make it happen.

Harbor Freight is going to be your go to spot. Get a coupon from online and you can even get a real tape measure for free.

If it were me, I would use a hand truck. You can get buy a small one for 20 or 30 bucks from Harbor Freight. If you feel that this isn't sufficient, rent a furniture hand truck from UHaul. I think is $10 or $15 for an all day rental. The furniture truck will have larger wheels, a wider base, and a strap to hold the cage which will make it much easier for you.

You'd be amazed how much you can move by yourself, even on stairs, with a hand truck. Just take your stairs slowly, one step at a time, and you should be fine.

How wide it the stair case an how tall is the head space?
If a fat 6 foot man could walk up those stairs then that enclosure WILL fit.
Two people can carry it too standing on end.
