okay, so i did something dumb and ordered the wrong size rat for my ball python. Last time i weighed him he was about 670 grams(?)-- the readings were weird because he wouldn't stop moving-- but anyways. I usually choose his prey size by the size of his girth and it seemed that he was getting too big for small rats?
I now have about 10 frozen medium rats in my freezer, and I wanted to know how long they'll keep? I know they are frozen but I don't want to end up feeding him something bad in the later months.

If well packaged F/T will keep up to a year in your freezer.

When weighing your snake put it in a bag like a pillow case. This will keep the snake from moving and give you better readings. Just remember to weight the bag first so you can subtract it or recalibrate the scale with the bag in the bowl by using the "tare" button(if yours has one).

This. If you have nothing that can eat the mediums, try selling them on Craiglist or in your local Facebook reptile forums. They do keep for months so there's no rush.

I only feed mediums to my largest balls, mostly they go to the boas. Small rats are fine for life, if you think it's not enough you can feed more often
