    New to this please help
Ok so I'm going to be getting my first ball python and have a lot of questions can y'all please help. First when it comes to the tank I have 2 tanks that are fish tanks one is a 55gal and the other is a 10gal I was going to sell the 55 before I thought about getting a snake and now I'm wondering can I use it Ik it's big but it would save from buying a new tank down the road. And I have watched a lot of videos on how to set up a tank and there is so many different do's and dont's like with lighting. Can y'all tell me what I need and any other info to help me out. Thank you for your time.

Sell both tanks, get a latch box-style tub such as a Sterilite 34 quart, and live happily ever after.

Or, considering that ball pythons are like potato chips and you don't stop at one, sell both tanks, build or buy a rack, and live happily ever after.

Either way you go, get a good thermostat to regulate your heat source(s).

Don't waste your money on lights, ball pythons live underground during the day and come out at night to hunt. They like the dark.

I second selling the tanks and using a tub.
Tanks an be made viable but will likely stress you in the process so keep it simple and use a tub, they work excellent

Look at the "sticky" threads at the top of the BP forum--they cover the basics. Good luck!
