Tubs + Snakes sizes

Hello, It hasnt been long but I have another question. We are now looking to get a hatchling next week.

I am not sure on the size of the hatchling yet, however is there a rough guide for size on RUBS (before we move to VIV).

9litre to 200 grams etc..
20 liter to ??

There is lots and lots to read but me and my mrs are trying to get the correct information, again we want to do this right...

We have so far said we will need the follow:

Tubs until VIV Size.
Heat Matt
2 Thermometers/Hydrometers
Thermostat
Heat matt
2 hides (1 while in small tub)
Substrate - kitchen towl whilst in tub
Basking/heat lamp (viv only)
Water bowl

Think that just about covers the habitat, its just deciding the size of the RUB that we want help with.

Thanks. (yes I have read the "how to set up a tub" post and will be following that, there just isnt (or i cant find) a tub to weight ration.

I don't know about the tub sizes really, but I am sure that it won't be long before someone comes into this thread and tells you. But for that basking/heat lamp do not forget the heat guard. The amount of times that my BP would have been able to burn himself without that thing being there.

the viv has a mesh top - so we will be leaving the lamp on the outside :D. However if things change I will get one of these!

Tub size is really a personal preference based on how you decide to set it up. For a hatchling it is pretty traditional to go with a 6 qt tub. I use this for most hatchlings, and just have a water bowl and no hide. You can start a hatchling in an adult sized 28-41 qt tub but likely you would need to add some hides and stuff to clutter up the tub to allow the hatchling to feel secure.

i currently am keeping snakes in 15qt tubs. I have started 55g animals in them and they are doing fine. I currently have some 400g+ animals in 15qt also with plenty of room and strong feeding response. I have a rack so hides are not in these but if your hatchling needs it a bowl hide fits with plenty of room. :gj:
