    Hello everyone
Newbie to this site and have a newly acquired rescued Ball Python. He is about 3ft long and in good health. Seems to be fairly happy with the cage setup. I have him in an Exo Terra 40gal tank with a single hide and water dish. I was told by Reptile Rescue that he should be fed every week on the same day. He is easy to feed and is inhaling small rats. Thing is I have had him 3 weeks and he has already eaten 3 small rats and 4 of the largest mice I could get before my food stash arrived. My sense is that if he is coming out of his hide and tracking movement in his area he is likely hungry and I plan to just offer him food. He is a little thin so I am not going cheap on the food. As I see it if he takes food he is hungry and I should let him have it. Is there any problem with that. When I was young snakes I caught if not hungry just will not accept food. Any problem with that?

Hi, it's great that he is a good feeder. How old is he approximately ?What are you heating the enclosure with? And what are your temps and humidity levels? Just bc he comes out of the hide doesn't mean he's hungry. Be careful and scale back those feedings to every 10 days now that he is established on weekly feedings. Ball pythons are opportunistic feeders and can easily be overfed. Over feeding is risky and can come with some setbacks. Start weighing him to track his growth.
