Mites!

I looked for a topic on this and didn't see what I was looking for
I just got my BP a few weeks ago and when j picked him up yesterday I saw that he had mites. I didn't notice any when I I got him and none of my other reptiles have ever had mites. Where did they come from? I got the Natural Chemisty reptile spray and I found instructions about how to use it online which were different from the one on the bottle. What should I do??

The new addition likely had mites hence the importance of quarantining. You may not have notice because there were a small number or maybe because they were at a different stage.

Reptile relief is great but I would encourage you to buy PAM (Provent A Mite) to treat enclosures as well.

Treat ALL snakes enclosures and ALL snakes.

Switch your substrate to paper towel to make monitoring a little easier.

First things first...get him as far away from your other reptiles as possible. You will have to go into full quarantine with him\her. I would highly recommend getting a plastic tub and only have the bp on paper towel. only put a water dish and a hide. Thats it. (dont forget the bp will still need heat). I would then use the instructions listed on the bottle. Forget what the internet says. You may also want to get some provent-a-mite if you don't have any and treat "everything" that the snake was around along with all of your other reptiles enclosures and areas. The mites could have been in egg form trapped in scales or they can be from a pet store or anywhere! All you can do now is treat. Good luck!!
