Hmmm

Okay so,
I've been pairing my female with my male since mid November. I'll have to look back in my records for the exact date again.

Off and on, I've seen multiple locks.
Lately she's been avoiding the hot side. She didn't eat for three weeks and just ate yesterday.

I just got home today, and i looked at her and she was laying completely inverted. I panicked i won't lie because i didn't expect to see that. She's okay! She glared at me for waking her up and is now upright and now refuses to look at me, lol.

I guess what I'm asking is, is the inversion a sign of something to do with her breeding?

This is my first time doing this, and my usual guy i go to is on vacation and he isn't taking calls or texts due to roaming fees.

Hubby and I have never seen a snake invert during breeding that isn't a hognose.

that would have scared me itless too! I hope someone can shed some light on the subject, but for now I would just double check the temps and keep an eye on her for now. What is your set up if you don't mind me asking?

The breeding pictorial on the Markus Jayne website might be helpful to you. It even shows a ball python laying inverted! From what I gather it is just a sign of breeding and nothing to be alarmed about:)

Absolutely normal! They lay inverted as part of the "building" process and where they are forming follicular development. It happens later in the gravid status also as part of the ovipositioning of the eggs. Don't even worry about that position.
