Fatal Morphs

ok, breeding season is upon us. me, i'm not yet ready to breed but will be excited when my girls get up to size. i have time to learn and prep.

anyway i wanted to start this thread as a primer, run down and discussion of the BP combos and pairings that produce fatal morphs. which morphs when paired and breed produces offsprings that will not survive?

i think i only know of 1 pairing so far - Spider and Champagne combos do not survive long after hatching. :(

what other combos and morphs are out there any hobbyist or breeder should avoid pairing?

Good conversation to have and I will be interested to see what people say. A few years ago I was hearing spider spider was fatal but now I hear it is not.

Spider to spider has not been proven as lethal. People pair spider and spider with no issues at all. The super champagne is lethal though and actually, champagne is also lethal when combined with certain other morphs as well such as spider. I want to say Sable is also one of them but I am not sure if that is correct, if anyone can confirm that.

Posted is a website with known risks when breeding certain morphs, if you want to give it a look.

it gets so confusing i belive that if some one was patient enough they could master it once they get strong enough genes who knows tho its just my theory with very little evidence lol

It's pretty much been figured out already.

As stated, champagne to champagne is lethal.

Spider x spider is believed to be lethal by many but some will argue it's not.

Deserts seem to have lethal consequences when breeding but more for the female holding eggs.

Not too many more off the top of my head

Problem is terminology. Does "champagne to champagne" refer to all the offspring from a champagne mated to a champagne? Or does it mean a snake with two champagne genes in its gene pair? The difference can be confusing.

Mating a champagne to a champagne is expected to produce
1/4 babies with two champagne genes (super champagne -- die)
2/4 babies with a champagne gene paired with a normal gene (champagne)
1/4 babies with two normal genes (normal)

The above mating shows that only the super champagne babies die. The others are fine.

is a good read, while some aren't fatal they do have draw backs you should be ready for. such as the 8 ball's kinking or duck billing or both. its not always fatal but you must be ready to have babies that wont sell and require some special attention.
