Anyone try covering screen tops with sheet metal to lock in humidity?

So I have an exo-terra terrarium with the light canopy addition on top, looks like this:

The screen top is divided into 4 screened sections, so the back two are completely covered by the light canopy. I've cut plexiglass squares that fit into each of these screened squares to lock in humidity. However, the heat from the light has warped the plexiglass on the back two squares so that they don't sit flatly on the screen anymore, im sure letting out humidity. I was wondering if sheet metal cut to size would work to lock in humidity. The metal would block the light, but I only use the black/purple night heat bulbs anyway. I guess my main concern is would enough heat still enter the tank to raise the ambient temp without letting the humidity out. Would the heat effectively transfer from the bulb to the metal to the inside of the tank?

I think I might try.

you could try cutting a hole in whatever you end up using and use the screen from the lid u dont use and cut a hole to the size of the lamp, the screen will block the snake from the heat lamp and you can still block humidity

I'd say scrap the lights, and get new plexiglass and call it a day.

I didn't think you could put heat bulbs in those hoods?

You may be right. It says max 25 watt bulb. I didn't see anything about no heat bulbs though.

I wish, but then my ambient temperature gets too low.

I have used small strips of melamine boards for this and it works great.

I have the same tanks and I just cut card board and cover it Wil alluminun foil. Doesn't warp and keeps thing good

Thanks. So you place heat bulbs over the cardboard covered with foil?

No just jeep your bulbs where they are at and cover the remaining sections with the cardboard. So there is still airflow. There really isn't a way to put something under the bulbs unless you get glass cut to fit in the sections

you could put some melamine boards in there and then just get an RHP. that would help with humidity and solve the ambient temps issue.
