Re: A few pictures
Nah, no women for him. He's a bachelor for now. Unless I find him a suitable friend at the July show in Arlington. I need to take some more pictures of him since he's even fatter now. Had some junebugs last night :-D

Re: A few pictures
Becky, found this thread and holy cute naked rats! LOL That's it I want one someday....any suggested links for breeders (or do you sell any babies yourself?)...as well do they have any special housing/husbandry needs being hairless...most importantly would they object to me knitting them sweaters...heck we live in northern Michigan LOL

Re: A few pictures
Hehe, yeah there are quite a few breeders that do have hairless babies. They don't require any special housing or treatment, but it helps if they have a haired buddy to cuddle up with. Mine don't object to sweaters, and I actually made Sneezy one out of a sock once. He didn't like that one because it was plaid :)
They are amazingly soft and warm, though. Little hot water bottles with legs and some whiskers. I recommend getting from a breeder as the hairless pet store rats will have been inbred and have horrible immune systems. Two of mine, one from PetsMart and one special ordered from Petco, are both VERY healthy. Sneezy sneezes ALOT, hence his name, but I think that is just how he is. Harry(female) is from PetsMart and she hasn't ever sneezed once and has always been very healthy, although she is a tiny girl, weighing only about 250g. :)
If you want a listing of breeders in your state, www.ratster.com is a great place to start looking. Another thing is, never breed hairless rats. They usually don't lactate and have a poor mothering instinct. It was a miracle the two Harry had lived and are doing awesome. Her daughter, Emily, is pictured in another thread. And Emily's brother, Fred, lives with my friend who goes to school with me.
If you want to know anything else about nekkid ratties or just rats in general, just ask. I'm all ears :)

Re: A few pictures
Awesome pics. I love your ryukin. I have a few lionheads; was actually able to breed them (accidentally of course) and still have three grown babies from it. I love freak goldfish!
Yer right about the hairless rats. My friend tried twice to breed them, and the parents were good stock from a breeder. No-go both times; seems like the mother just lost interest in them, and stopped lactating too. Too bad we can't clone them..
I love your rat cage. Lotsa room for them to run around and all. And Murphy is flipping cute. :D

Re: A few pictures
Becky, Murphy is too ummm well not cute really LOL but froggily handsome and the fact that he eats those disgusting june bugs makes him #1 in my books (being that I have this ridiculous life long absolute terror of June bugs!) Maybe I can hire Murphy to hang around my back porch so I can go out this year and have a cigarette in peace instead of the duck and dive technique, accompanied by screams for Mike to come kill those dang big bugs!!!!
