I think carpets are too nice of a display snake to be housed in racks :). Maybe try a colubrid like a kingsnake or bull snake.

D'oh! I failed reading comprehension about the rack when I suggested carpets.
My spotted python, however, would probably be happy in a rack. She spends most of her time hiding, and could completely ignored the jungle gym she had for a while.

Definitely disagree with this. Most of the colubrids I've kept have been very happy in their rack systems through several different generations over the past 30 years. Corn snakes, King snakes and Milk snakes do very well in rack systems.
