No more striking?

So, Eden has always been my best eater. NEVER turns down a meal. Okay, it happened once, but anyway...recently she has stopped striking her food. She usually has an INSANE feeding response. She will still come flying out, but will not strike at anything to save her life. The only way I can get her to eat is if I leave it with her for a while, she will sniff and just start eating. Is this normal behavior, especially for f/t? I DID change where I got my rats.

Unless she stopped eating entirely, I wouldn't consider it a problem. Does seem kind of strange to me but, you should be okay.

I've had the opposite happen. The first few meals had to be left in his tub for Ceasar to eat them, but 3 meals ago he started going for it and taking the rat out of the tongs!

Though same as kriegsmom I'd say as long as she eats ?

Snakes are survivalists and don't expend energy they don't have to. She's just figured out that her food is already dead so she doesn't have to kill it.

My guy doesn't always strike, it depends how hungry he is. If the ft is small one week he'll be really hungry and strike as soon as he sees the tongs, but if his meal is a larger one he'll just take it and mull over it a while then eat eveventually, but he never refuses, unless he is in the middle of a shed, and then not every shed.

My BP Bella struck every time for the last 7 months I've had her. But she has done exactly what yours has done the last 3 feedings.

I had one that did this as well. If I moved it on tongs, he would strike and coil. If I just tossed it in with him, he would just slither up to it and start eating. Some of them just learn.

Just so weird because her food response is crazy and yet...all of a sudden she became lazy lol
