Does this look alright guys? (Probe placement)
Im setting my tank for my new boa and i have my uth and thermastat. The probe is way to big to go in between the tank and uth so i used foil tape and taped it on top. Will this be good enough? And should i tape over the probe part?

That should work fine. Just monitor the temps on the inside of the glass once up and running and adjust if need be. Could be a variance between what the prob reads on the back, and what's passing through the glass. I would tape over the probe too so that it's tight against the pad.

If you lift up part of the uth after removing two pieces of the foil tape you should be able to successfully place the probe underneath the uth. There you would get better control of your temps. You can then retape those sides with new foil tape. For the record the better uth is the ultra therm type. The zoo med uth has a tendency to have a higher wattage and run hotter. Also, try not to place tape over the probe.sensor bc it will give you a inaccurate temp reading.

Thanks for the warning on the zoo med pads. Ill go with ultra therm next time i need one. And if i put the probe under there the pad dosent lay flush with the glass.

I picked up an Ultra Therm from Reptile Basics on Albert's recommendation.

    It works great, Thanks Albert!

That's perfectly fine. Accuracy > Aesthetics

Alrighty. But i will still have good heat transfer right?

You should - many people have success this way. Just verify with your probed/infrared thermometer once it's in place. If for some reason you get crazy results, you can tape the probe to the bottom of the flush mounted pad and adjust temps accordingly (just like you had originally).

Yes, you will still have good heat transfer in that way. Just use the foil tape on your edges of the pad. You will want to make sure there is no pressure on the probe itself. Worse case scenario elevate the enclosure to relieve the pressure off the probe. Maybe even a soft cloth under the uth itself. Heat rises so you should be ok. Just don't overdo the cloth bc the uth should have adequate ventilation too.
