Is this a good source for buying f/t rats and mice?
I just found Layne Laboratory, Inc. and i was wondering if anybody else has order from here, and if they are a reliable company to order f/t rats and mice from? The prices seem pretty good, but if it's not, are there any companies that have a good price for good quality f/t rats and mice?

They have received excellent reviews here. I was going to place an order with them about 3 weeks ago, but their shipping charges were very prohibitive for me.

I live in TX and they needed $84 to ship one box. It may be cheaper if you are closer to them.

Big Cheese has a flat rate of $29. I found thier products to be very good quality.

I've used Layne Labs before. Their packaging and feeder quality are top notch but their shipping charges are quite high. I've had great experiences with Big Cheese Rodents. Their feeder quality and packaging are just as good as Layne but the $29 flat rate shipping sets them apart. I've also heard really good things about Perfect Prey. I have to place a feeder order soon and since Big Cheese is out of large rats I'm going to try Perfect Prey.

Layne labs has high quality feeders ,but again, their shipping charges are outrageous!! Seriously, unless you live in California.

If you live in California then I have to recommend Layne Labs to you. My last order of rats and mice were perfect! Otherwise, the shipping prices may throw you off.

Even in California their shipping prices are terrible. I just ordered $125 rats from RodentPro for a very nice price (they have a discount going on for the new year).

Thanks guys! Your replies were really helpful! (i don't live close to California, so Big Cheese sounds like the best option!)

I cant say enough good things about Big Cheese for rodent orders. The animals were fresh and extremely well sized. You cant beat 29$ flat rate shipping. Their customer service was excellent too.

I recently ordered from Big Cheese and with their flat rate shipping, it was less expensive than Layne Labs. Since I am in CA, I'd also have to pay sales tax on top of their shipping charge, so Big Cheese it was. The shipment arrived in 5 days from the time I ordered and there was still plenty of dry ice in the box to keep everything frozen.

Layne Labs was at the Pomona reptile show this weekend and their quality seemed to be on par with Big Cheese.
