Green Papuana

Pappy shed last night and was in a rather green mood so I took him out for some exercise and pictures today. Made the mistake of letting him hook into a tree - took about an hour to coax him back out of the ligustrum. Thinking my next project will be a large arboreal enclosure. I'm interested to see how much he'd utilize vertical space and perches if given the chance.

Glad to hear you got him out of that tree!

I think planning a new enclosure is almost more fun than getting a new animal.

He sure looks gorgeous after his shed.

I've always wondered when I see pics on the forum of snakes in a tree; unless the tree was 6 ft or less, how did they get their snakes down?

I know my snakes, and given an opportunity to climb a tree, none of them would come down until????????

I have a couple ornamental trees and fruit trees that I keep trimmed to around 7 feet - can just let the smaller snakes have at it for a couple hours. Those won't bear his weight since this last growth spurt so he has been kept away from trees lately. He slithered up to the ligustrum nice and slow so I thought I'd let him check it out a bit - hoping he'd be content with the lower, thicker, trunk shoots. The little stinker shot straight up and by the time I laid hands on him he was anchored in pretty good.

Yeah, he's a New Guinea Olive. Ever since my last setup - bioactive - I've been getting more and more into planning enclosures. I have a stack of AP cages that are in the making that I'm looking forward to setting up when they arrive. I'm looking at the A30(48Lx24Dx72H) and the A35(72Lx24Dx48H) as possible options for Pappy's final enclosure.

That makes sense.

I know what you mean about that anchor! On any structure, once,that happens I'm in for a battle.

That may be my favorite of all constricting snakes!
