Time to shed...

My little (105g) Mojave girl is about to shed. I thought her eyes looked a tad bluish on Friday when I had her out, but I fed her and she took it just fine. I was going to take her out today to clean her enclosure since there was some mouse blood on the papertowel, and she was a little less relaxed when I picked her up. When I pulled her out, I could see why. She looks really washed out and the eyes are really cloudy blue/grey. I just put her back in and will let her be. Temps are good and I've got my humidity up to the low 70's. I'll add this is her first shed since I've had her, I got her at 65g I think, so probably just her 2nd shed. This is my first BP and first snake, so it's a new experience for me too.

Any idea how long it may be before she actually sheds? Do they usually shed at night, or is this something I may be able to witness?

It takes about a week or so for them to shed. Make sure that you up the humidity to about 70. I also wouldn't handle her while she's shedding.

Gotcha... yea, once I realized she was actually starting to shed, she went back in and I won't bother her until she's done. Humidity is in the low 70's. :)

Mine have shed all at random times. I just recently had about 7 go into shed. 5 of them shed and i missed them all lol. I have two more to see if i can catch but I doubt it. I think you have to be pretty lucky to catch them in the act. :D

you have to be lucky or you have to be someone who checks on your snakes all the time haha. if you peak in a lot over the next 5 days or so you might catch the little guy working in the shed off.

I caught the ball I have in my classroom going into shed. It was the news of the school and I think about 400 kids saw her working her way out if her skin. The kids were amazed and it lasted maybe 30 min tops and she had a complete shed off in one piece.

I peek in on her often, when I'm home and not in bed... which through the week is only 3 or 4 hours. While it would be cool to see, I'll just be happy for her to get through it safely and without issues. My humidity is holding steady in the low-mid 70%'s, and she has a bowl with some sphagnum moss and a damp washcloth folded up in there too. Both to help with humidity and give her something to rub on if needed.

I'm ready to see my brand-new looking snake. :)
