DIY Rack Questions

Hello, I posted about this earlier, but I am wondering even more now.
I am planning on creating a rack for 3-4 snakes, currently, I have 2 ball pythons.

How do you set up the belly heat? What tools/materials are needed?
Could I use regular wood for the shelves? Does it have to be melamine? Or could I buy those plastic dressers that come with the already-there plastic containers needed for the snakes?

I too would like forum peeps to reply, so I'll be lurking...



But I do know there are tutorials on youtube of how to setup different kinds, lots of home depot diy racks... They use heat tape for the belly heat, but I dont know how you know what size/how to set it up- that's my main issue.
