Creating a Larger Temperature Gradient in a 10 Gallon

Any tips for creating a larger temp gradient in a 10 gallon? I currently am only getting about a 6 degree difference from the warm side to the cool side, current temps are 86 and 80. He's spending a lot of time sniffing at the screen at the cool side of the tank and I'm wondering if he's hot. I'm using a CHE on a dimmer on the warm side.

BTW he's 3 months old and about 12" long so that's why he's in a 10 gallon.

Honestly those temps are fine. Focus on your humidity, especially with the CHE.

Thanks, that's a relief. I use moss to regulate humidity and keep it around 55%. I put distilled water on the moss every morning.

That sounds pretty solid. Are you using a UTH on a thermostat for the hot side, or just creating all of that with your CHE? If you ahve both, you could bump up the temp on the UTH a little.

That's one area that needs improvement, I need to get a uth and thermostat. I'll have to wait until after the holidays to do that though, all spare cash is going to gifts at the moment.
