    Adulthood Growth Spurt?
    hey peeps.

how much could a smaller adult BP grow? like if it was given a larger prey on a weekly basis. will the growth happen gradually or will it be a growth spurt?

i am looking at a multigene 3 year old male BP that is 350grams. the breeder did not think he was gonna keep him and kept him on a maintenance diet. it’s currently on small rats. it’s small but healthy and active. eventually I would want to breed this male.

how much growth should I expect? also what is the smallest breeding male you have or have seen? i'm not in a rush to breed, i gotta grow my girls first. i just wanna plan and make sure i'm making the right moves.

    thanks all! <3

Our rescue female is a great example for you. When we got her she was right at 300 grams at 3 years old. She had been badly burned and had refused to eat for some time as a younger animal. She was quite small and had been a difficult eater for her previous owner. We have had her a year (over now) in August. We had no feeding troubles, although she has recently went off feed. She is currently a little over 1700g.

This is her shortly after receiving her. (Along with our old King Setups in the background)

And this is a picture within the last few months. If they eat, and eat consistently, they will grow.

I like to keep my males under 1000g. Though I do have one pushing 2500g.

@Asherah - that's awesome! she grew by almost 8 fold. thank u for your post and pix. :)

does a delayed growth affect any of their reproductive parts and it's abilities?

A small rat for a 350 gram snake is a great meal. I definitely wouldn't call it a maintenance diet. I have my 1000g Pied boy on one small rat a week and he's still gaining weight.

    Welcome!

I would assume not, especially in a male. I have no first hand knowledge of that however.

Sounds like it was off food for a while... was the maintenance part of the "maintenance diet" include not feeding weekly?
You would still need to feed it an appropriate sized prey item. Maybe feed a little more often if will take food.

I feed mostly smalls to all of mine. Some get extra. :mouse2::mouse2:

Had one go from 900 grams to 1700 grams in about 3 months I believe.
