    Zoo Med UTH placement
    Dear all,
is it acceptable to place a regulated UTH on the side of the tank, to raise ambient temperatures?
This is in addition to the UTH under the tank, to raise the hot spot temps.
    Thanks,
    HenryTheSnake

i am assuming this is a glass tank. The uth will not increase ambient temps. if you have ever used a heat blanket you will notice that it does not heat the air around it but what it is in contact with. This is basically how a uth works. I would get a Che or a heat bulb to raise ambient and foil the rest of the screen. There is a sticky on how to setup an aquarium style tank.

It wont raise ambient as much as you would hope.

My Room Temperature is at a constant 70 degrees during the day. Do you think that, with aluminum foil on the screen top, it would at least raise the ambient temperature to 75 degrees?
    Thanks,

Perfect. You caught me at feeding time. So while hes out of the tank, a side mounted panel is how i heat my tank. Yes you will need to modify the top and insulate at least the back of the tank. I have just a piece of solar insulation over my pad. Its the size of the side of my tank.

Theres a corner rock hide burried in the pothos and wood. So the side panel heats the soil there and provides a warm belly.

Stats set at 90 and stays there. The analog gauge probe is on the mat and i have a digi meter i moved next to the temp probe. Keeps my ambient around 85 with nothing but a dual t5 fixture. One grow light one uvb.

This is absolutely perfect! I have that exact tank and have been having problems with the lid. How did you make it? Can you make a separate post on the husbandry thread and hopefully it will be turned into a sticky :D
    Thanks,
