    Newbie with questions
Hey everyone, first off great site, I have learned a lot since finding this site.

Ok problem I am having is I can't seem to get my temp's right, my cold spot is not to bad with a temp of 76 f, for my hot spot I was running 114f I know this is too hi so I went out and bought a thermostat it is the ReptiTemp rheostat, I plugged it in and plugged mu UTH into that, set on the lowest setting my temp is still 103f, what can I do to get my temp right?

What else are you using for heat? What are your ambient temps (both room and inside enclosure)?

Are you also using a daytime bulb?

Not a thermostat and not the greatest control measure but it is better than nothing.
Where are you measuring your temperatures?
    Photos would be great.

is your tank sitting right on a solid surface? You need to have some "feet" on the bottom of the enclosure to let a little bit of air underneath the tank. It could be, that if you're just sitting it on a solid surface, that the UTH is just getting really hot and heating the surface, and holding that heat. a simple test would be to take a piece of paper, fold it in half four times, and put one of those under each of the four corners of your tank. Give it a couple of hours and see if the temps come down a little.

What size is your tank and what type/size of UTH are you using? If it's still getting that hot with your thermostat setting that low, it could be an issue with the UTH.
