I think that when you hear about a big lizard like a Green Iggy biting someone. It is usally the owners fault. Like me the only time I have ever been bit by mine is when I have had the scent of fruit on me! I also wanna hear peoples thoughts on big lizards

    Talking about Big lizards!
Iggys - scary. cool. don't want one. maybe in a few years..
Ackies - (varanus acanthurus) - way cool. getting some when I have the money. not scary.
Blackthroat Monitor - Awesome. Tameable. Getting one when I have room
Water Monitor - Ultimate tamable lizard. Will have one some day.

I think the only lizard i would get would be a couple anoles or a leo (i know, they are gecko's)

I saw an adult Iggy and it freaked me the heck out.

Its so sad, last time i went to petco (looking for the corn snake manual) i saw this mom and her kids (daughter and son about 5-7 years old) You know, the kind of kids who get everything they want ? Getting two iggys......she was all like.....ohh they are so small and cute guys !! i was like....you know they can grow to be 6 long right ? and she laughed and walked away with her spoiled little kids and those poor two iggys.

Yeah.. there's a sickening amount of unwanted iggys in reptile rescues. (I'm sure Rusty knows what I'm saying here..)

We have an albino iggy at the zoo where I work. Cool looking animal.. all orange and white. He's a little... ornery though. Bit the female (also albino) and her toe fell off.

    Aussie Water Dragons are cool!
Also I think the main reason Green Iggys become mean is that when they start to get bigger people never want to handle them. See with my iggy all I do is let him chill on my couch with me while I watch TV and I rub his head.

Beardies are neat. Definitely a lap lizard. Leucistic and sandfire dragons are cool. For some reason I think I wouldn't be able to handle a reptile that eats meat AND veggies. I'm afraid I wouldn't get the ratio right.

MisterPodo.. how big is your iggy, and how long have you had him?

I think he is about 4 1/2' Not quite sure I would measure but he is sleeping right now. I have had him since he was a baby.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting some beardies but its just too much maintenance for me.

4 1/2' huh? Pretty big. So you've had good luck with him then? No meanness? Also.. where did you get him?
