    Scortched pvc safe?
I'm looking to make some decent decor for my ball python and red tailed boas cages. And I'm liking the look of the scortched pvc. But I'm unsure of it's safe to put in with my snakes. I've been reading on forums and such and can't find any good answers. If i don't Scott's the box is like to give it a more forestry paint job. Are there any spray paints that would be safe to put in there enclosures?

I remember seeing a tutorial, a few years ago, of a guy scorching pvc with a torch to give it a more natural look.

Navigate to the applicable forum/subforum and you'll find "+ Post New Thread" buttons at the top and bottom of the page - click either.

Scorched PVC is safe, that's what I do for branches in my ATBs cages. Make sure to do it outside as the fumes can be bad, after scourching, it's pliable and you can twist it a bit. More scorching makes for more color but you do end up with lots of white areas usually. Then I wash them off and just because I'm overly cautious, let sit for 48 hours before putting into cage. I would avoid spray paints but I don't know enough about those to say if they are safe or not.
    Good luck!

Putting love bamboo in a cage shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure to watch out for mold. Also it may die without proper lighting. It may also get knocked over or undug depending on what you're keeping in the enclosure. But other than that it should be fine.

Should I wash it with soap? Or just plain water? Also should I use a scrub pad? And just in case I should let them air out to make sure all fumes are gone?

just rinse them off good with plain water, I let them air out for 48 hrs. If you get any burnt cracked areas, I would go over those with a scrub pad but basically if you go nice and slow, you won't get any burnt spots. Use a piece or two of scrap and practice to get a feel for it before doing the actual perches. :)

Thank you very much for the info. Will probably be making some soon.
