Once a bp's eyes begin to turn "grey/blue", how long does it generally take for the bp to start shedding. Thor is about to go into his first shed under my care. his eyes changed tuesday and i am leaving this weekend. so i was just wondering.

    shedding time question
also i would appreciate any advice on shedding. i have his humidity up to about 65% right now. I just figured he would take care of the rest.

It's usually around a week or less from blueing over to actual shed. First the snake will go blue, then turn more or less to normal color, then a day or two after it will shed.

65% is good, maybe a little higher even. I've heard of people putting it to 70%. If he doesn't shed easily, you can soak him in lukewarm water for an hour or so, just make sure it's not deep enough where he has to swim.

Ok, raise the humidity up higher, i keep mine at around 50-60 when they arent in shed, when they are in shed i raise it up to about 80, no less than 75 at least.

As far as how long it will take ........its hard to say exactly, my corns eyes turn blue and then a few days later she sheds, but with Roxy, it usually takes about a week or so.I think its differnt with every snake.

    Hope that helps :)

Ah.. I thought maybe humidity should be higher than that. I'm just a little wary since poor Shelby got blister disease..

Yeah, thats why i really dont wet the newspaper too much, mostly the walls and i fill up the water bowl alot.

I sometimes spray the newspaper but not in the hides so the snakes have to sit in it.LOL thats not to cool.

It's probably different with every snake, but with Pelota, here's how it goes:
Blue eyes for 5 days. On the 5th day her eyes clear up. 2 days later, she sheds.
She's like clockwork. All her sheds with me were just like that. Last shed, she started with blue eyes on friday, and by the next friday, at 9pm, exactly a week from finding her with blue eyes, she shed.
