Trying to decide what to get at the next Reptile Show
The Pomona show is coming up and I'm super excited. I'm either gonna get a Leucistic Texas Rat snake or a Carpet Python. Which one would you get?

Very tough choice. I really like both snakes but I've never kept rat snakes. I love my carpets and would highly recommend them for any collection.

Ratsnakes are cheaper to buy and to keep in terms of feeding and enclosures.

I agree that rat snakes may be less expensive to purchase but how are the feeding and enclosure costs any less?

Smaller adult size and they are less arboreal. They will climb though. Both are amazing snakes and pretty easy keepers. I have been into the more active nature and faster metabolism of colubrid snakes recently. My partner got a leucistic Texas ratsnake in August and she is great. Ate within 2 days of bringing her home and never refused a meal. She had a little attitude at first but is honestly as docile as a cornsnake now.
