Just picked up a 3 year old redtail female. She's got to be around 5ish feet long, very plump and healthy looking. I've never owned a redtail though so if anyone has any experience with one let me know a bit about them and what is good for them. I bought her from a breeder who had her as a pet, said she ate jumbo frozen and was handled frequently every week. She seems very calm and loving, giving her a bit before I get her out so she can settle down in her new home.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11...3d5bc18470.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11...720b3dfe30.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11...a7551e61a8.jpg

Congrats on your beautiful Boa! They are a fun snake that you will enjoy.

You will find that she will rarely turn down food, so be sure not to over feed.

Their body shape should be totally different than a BP. She should be "loaf" shaped, not round.
A sign of over feeding is when the tail gets heavy and round looking.
From what I can tell from the pictures she looks good.

They are considered semi-arboreal, so if you have room in the tank to add anything to climb on that would be good. My adult won't climb in her enclosure. I got her as a rescue and the previous owners must not have encouraged climbing.

As you can see, I encourage climbing for exercise to keep tone.

    Enjoy!

I forgot to mention that this a great book for reference and learning.

You can get it on Amazon for around $40 or so.

She is a bit plump yes. A jumbo seems like a lot of food. Not even my 6.5' boa gets jumbo rats.

My only advice is maybe step down to larges (or even mediums if she is indeed 5', but she looks a bit bigger than that in these photos) and feed them every 3-6 weeks. My 4 year old boy is currently eating a large rat every 5 weeks, and will be getting his last rat for the winter tomorrow, and he's definitely not underweight. Less is more with these guys especially as adults.

Otherwise enjoy your gorgeous new girl.
