    I have a ball python that the breeder told me the snake was a male, but how do i check?

    By popping or probing, find someone local to teach you how to do both.

    If the breeder told you that the snake was a male, you're safe to assume that your ball python is a male. If you really want, go back and ask him just to make sure. :P

    Many people have been sorely disappointed after years of raising their snake when realizing the gender is actually different than what was advertised. Some breeders are much more reputable than others but mistakes happen so gender should always be double checked when receiving a new snake without exception. This prevents any trouble down the road and is included in many breeders' TOS that the gender must be checked within X time or any guarantees are void.

    Sexing mistakes while rare do happen, the sooner the animal is sexed upon arrival the easier to fix the issue with the breeder if there was a mistake.
