A few questions about building a rack.
So I'm planning on building a rack system as I plan to buy more bps, and I know it's way cheaper to build your own. This is how I plan to build it using this guy's method- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEbZsABO-dc now my questions are, for heat tape would it always be in the back? Also is it safe to keep against the material? Would I just aluminium tape it down or is there something specific I need to do? Does it matter if the bottom of the racks have little holes underneath(as all the ones I found had). Is there anything else you could add that might be beneficial to know outside of what he says in the video? I'm not really good at building things, I've seen a lot of DIY racks and they just have a lot of stuff in them I don't understand. So, please with what you say specify as much as possible. Side question, can any thermostat go to any heat tape or do they have to be specifically for it?

I would recommend to have the heat tape running underneath the back on running length wise on one of the side (but that is over-killed and too much surface) you obviously don't want your heat tape on the front and put your water dish in the back as it would make changing water a hassle.

    Foil tape is fine.

Main thing to keep in mind is to have some little wiggle room when it comes to space, when assembling place a slim CD case on the top 4 corners of your tub and than place your next shelf, this will prevent rubbing.

As for thermostat you want a quality thermostat that can handle the wattage you will use.

i made a rack over the summer. i posted some pix and comments in this recent thread where another forumer is also building her own rack - http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...-a-Rack-System

also the DYI sub-forum has alotta cool and helpful threads - http://ball-pythons.net/forums/forum...?125-DIY-Forum. i looked around and read alot there before building.

lastly u can build a rack for cheap, but do not cheap out on the thermostat.

    good luck. happy building! :)
