BP staying on the cold side
Hello. I am still considered a newbie in the ball python world but I am concerned with the behavior of one of my snakes. He is a 1,000 gram male and he keeps staying on the cold side of his tank. He has hide holes and water on both sides of his tank. I am using a heating pad and thermostat set at 90 degrees. The other snake is hooked to the same thermostat and she is doing fine using both sides of the tank. What really concerned me is we took him out of the to handle him yesterday and he felt so cold. It took about 15 minutes under my wifes robe until he finally started moving around. When I put him back, I put him on the warm side and he immediately went in his hide hole on the cool side.
Should I be concerned? We keep our house at 70 degrees.
Thanks for any help

Thanks. I will try changing the hides. Any other thought out there?
Re: BP staying on the cold side
Recheck his warm side temp with a temp gun or something and make sure it's at the right heat. Or try to lower it as it may be trying to find a middle ground between the hot and cool side but can't.
