well, i noticed some urine in rexs tank today, so i started cleaning it out. i had nowhere to put him, so i did my usual and slung him around my neck. big mistake today. as i started cleaning, he did his usual, and wondered around my head and through my hair. all of a sudden wham! he started squeezing. hes only 30in long, but i could barely breath. so i calmly walked into my bathroom (next door to my room) and unwound him from his tail. i dont know if it was just to hold on or if he really was trying to kill me lol.

He certainly wasn't trying to kill you. Most likely he was hanging on for fear of falling and loosing his own life, same as he would a branch in a tree. It's a stress reaction.

As long as you start from the tail, they are usually not that ahrd to unwind. It can hurt though! Especially if you have long hair and they get stuck in that. Now whenever I have them out, I never have my hair in a bun, since they always entwine themselves into that.

Oh ... not exactly .... A little squeeze from your snake is nothing like being bitten and then having your respiratory and circulatory systems compressed until you are asphyxiated by a creature 5 - 20 times your size. (sorry, i'm a stickler for details :D)

Glad you got Rex off before you passed out. :o

Pelota was showing her strength tonight. Had her out for about an hour so my mom's friend's husband could see her. He hadn't seen her in a few months, and couldn't believe how much she's grown. He was holding her, and she slithered into the sleeve of his leather jacket for warmth and cover, and she coiled around his arm. She was coiled so tight, his hand was turning purple, lol. Good to see she's getting big and strong I guess. :)

I walk around with my RTB (26inches) around my neck, and every single time he gets stuck in my hair, so I wear a hair net and put it in a pony tail now.
