    Feeder Rat Question
So it's time to purchase Mashadar his first rats and I have 2 questions:

    1. Has anyone ordered rodents from Big Cheese Rodent Factory? Are they good quality?

    2. I know he needs a rat that is not wider than the widest part of his body, but since I can't see them, I have to go by weight.
He is 172g as of 10/24 before I fed him. He ate a 24 g f/t mouse (since I didn't have any rats) just fine so I was looking in that range. I can get fuzzies that are 10-19g or pups that are 20-34g. . . I think the weaned may still be too big, they are 35-50g.

The breeder had him on live rats from their breeding colony, so the size was always adjusted as he grew. I'm really surprised he ate a f/t mouse, but I want to get him back on rats ASAP so he does not get a affinity for the mice!

We use rodent pro at the center and the quality is fine, but they charge $50 for a 50 count bag, and Big Cheese charges $18.75 for a bag of 25. Both charge $29 for shipping. Until he is on small / medium rats as an adult, I'd like to buy smaller quantities. I know that either way he will outgrow the pup size before I finish the bag, but I can donate what he doesn't finish or feed him multiple at each feeding.

Big cheese is great. They ship fast, and their quality is great. I will only buy from them here on out.

    Fuzzies are too small.

Pups are the right size now but he'll outgrow them quickly at this point. Mine usually switch from pups to weaned at around 250g. If you can get some pups and some weans that would work out well. If not, get the pups and feed multiples as he gets bigger.

I agree with the previous posters. Big Cheese is great. Their packaging, feeder quality, customer service, and prices are all top notch. I use them pretty much exclusively for my feeders. I also think getting a few rat pups and a few weaned rats is the way to go.

I also use Big Cheese, they are great...I was in roughly the same boat, and ordered a tray each of 25 rat pups and 20 weanlings. I doubled up on the pups as needed as my snake grew, and he transitioned to weanlings without issue when the pups had all been eaten. Before he went to smalls, he was getting 2 weanlings at a feeding
