gtp or etb

I'm looking to get my fist arboreal snake and both are beautiful. I can read all day. But hearing from those who have one or the other or in some cases both would be great! Currently have 2 BP and a boa. Looking to expand. Help me decide. It will be my first arboreal but not my last

There's also the amazon tree boa (which are cheaper)...maybe a jungle carpet python?

Not sure if things have changed much in the last 20 years but when I was into it the Chondropythons were a bit easier to care for and easier to find good clean captive bread specimens. I housed and bred aru island chondros for a while and really enjoyed them. They were calm and with some handling were as tame as our bp's.

I must say though the amazon basin etb is definitely still on my bucket list!

Never had an ETB yet. Have several GTPs though, and I have to say I was surprised at how docile they can be. Usually if I get bit it's because I have a couple that are a bit food crazed and I'm not paying attention, or on the rare occasion I've gotten a defensive bite by startling one that was kind of sleeping. Haven't had an amazon yet either, but all the ones I see being handled seem to end up drawing blood. But that's also at shows too, so a high stress environment.

I had an amazon for a while many years ago. She was a beautiful orange specimen. At the time we were using our animals for education and had no room for snakes that could not be safe to handle. She and an African rock python were the only two I could not completely break from biting. She would let you hold her but she always had to get a taste of you first. Fortunately she was small so the bites were non incidental. Unfortunately that was still not acceptable for our program so she had to go.

Just based on looks I prefer the ETB. I just really like the lightning bolts on their backs. My ATB is nippy, but I can hold him without getting tagged. I do watch my distances when I go into his cage though. He always takes a swipe or four.
